BULLETIN 2: TECHNICAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPETITORS
Covid-19 epidemiological measures
In order to make competitions possible, certain measures have been taken. We kindly ask all participants to comply with the following:
There is no official camp in the event center (EC), for that reason it is not possible to spend the night in the EC.
Bring your own beer and lemonade cups – Due to strict hygiene measures, we must use disposable cups only. If possible, bring your own cups in order to reduce the amount of plastic waste.
Competitors are asked to limit their stay in the EC to the necessary period.
Keep your distance – Do not gather in queues at stalls, toilets, at the notice board (everything is online) or while waiting for the start or at the finish. Keep distance.
Registration is in the limited mode – Solve all the changes via email before the race if possible, send your payments online to the bank account, payment receipts can be downloaded from ORIS. Consult the registration desk only in necessary cases.
Startlists were extended to the longer time period in order to minimize the accumulation of people at the start and finish.
Arrive at the pre-start area just a few minutes before your actual start. After completing the stage. After completing the stage, return on foot to the EC to read your SI card.
Prize giving ceremony will take place, please keep distance.
Disinfection containers will be in the EC, and close to toilets at the pre-start.

Registration:
In the limited mode: to pick up overpayments, and for changes. We ask clubs with properly paid fees to download their receipts from ORIS.

Parking:
In the EC for the parking fee of 50 CZK/whole event. For the arrival and departure, use the route marked at the attached map. It is prohibited to enter the bike path further behind the „Bouček’s farm“ in both directions, non-compliance will lead to disqualification as there is a ban on motor vehicles. It is possible to use bike path only when moving from P1 to P2 but follow the instructions of organizers! Also, do not park in the village of Malá Skála outside designated places otherwise your car could be withdrawn by the Police of the Czech Republic.
Start of individual stages can be reached by foot only, and it is strictly forbidden for competitors to enter Záborčí settlement. In case you live in Malá Skála, you should rather come to the EC on foot.
Accommodation:
Due to Covid-19 pandemic and measures taken, the organizer does not provide accommodation. However, the village of Malá Skála and the surrounding area of Bohemian Paradise offer several accommodation capacities.
Overnight stays at the EC are not allowed. Violation will be fined with the amount of CZK 1,000 per club and disqualification from competitions will be applied.
Event Center:
In the EC, there will be limited number of refreshment stalls (see Catering), a bar, cafeteria, sporting goods stalls, designated place for the club tents, toilets, water through, and access to the river.
In the EC, we ask competitors to:
Sort waste. Yellow bags are for plastic, blue / black for mixed waste.
Save water. A nearby spring overflow can be used as a source of drinking water.
Do not part outside designated areas.
Do not stay overnight.
Bear in mind that the EC is close to the river and railway, take care and watch your children!
Be aware that very busy Greenway Jizera cycle path passes through the EC. Be careful when crossing!
Do not leave valuables on the field or in tents. Thanks to the cycle path, numerous „non-orienteering people“ can be expected in the EC.
Washing:
There will be water through with drinking water in the EC. Close to the EC, there is also a spring overflow with drinking water – please use it as much as possible. If you’d like to take a bath in the Jizera river, use cut-out surfaces for access. It is prohibited to use shampoos, soaps, and detergents in all the mentioned places.
Catering:
Basic refreshment as steak, hot dog, pancakes, beer, or lemonade will be provided. Bring your own cups! If you have your own cup, we’ll deduct CZK 5 from the price of each drink.
There are plenty of restaurants and stalls with refreshments in Malá Skála, however, due to the ongoing tourist season, we recommend making reservations in advance.
Babysitting:
In the EC only for necessary time of your race.
Control descriptions:
Only in the EC, situated on the info-board.
Punching system:
SportIdent for all stages. The SI units will not be set to contactless beacon mode. The SIAC-OFF unit will be located at the start. In case of malfunction of electronic punching, you have to punch manually to the “R boxes” on the map. In this case, the map must be returned immediately to the organizers at the finish. Please check your SI number with number provided on the startlist. In case of discrepancy, ask for a correction on the registration desk. In case of loss of hired SI an amount of CZK 1,000 will be charged.
SI reading and preliminary results:
Available in the EC, in Malá Skála. We ask the competitors to read the SI cards immediately after returning from the race.
The preliminary results will be posted on the info-board. Live results from all stages will be available on-line at: https://liveresultat.orientering.se.
First aid:
First aid available in the finish area of every stage, eventually in the EC during the race.
Regulation:
Race is regulated according to ČSOS rules. Winning times according to the competition rules of ČSOS, apart from kids’ classes, will by ca. 20-30% longer to enjoy the beauty of our terrains.
Key for results evaluation:
Determining the overall ranking of a competitor in the category is given by a simple sum of time from all three stages.
Prize giving ceremony:
On Sunday, August 23, 2020 at about 2:30 pm in the EC. The first three Competitors from all classes will be awarded.
In the HDR, D/H10, D/H10L classes, all participants will receive a small prize at the end of the ceremony.
Protests:
With a deposit of 200 CZK to the main referee of the stage. Protests against official results may be delivered to the following address: OOB TJ Turnov, Skálova 207, 511 01 Turnov.

Other:
Way to the start is marked by blue-white ribbons.
The HDR and HD10L courses are marked by red-white plastic ribbons.
HDR class has 2 maps available for both children and accompaniment.
All maps are waterproof.
Maps at the finish will not be collected. Please, keep fair-play!
Pay attention in the rocks! You compete at your own risk.
Competitions take place in the protected landscape area, follow all the instructions of the organizer.
We compete in forests managed by LESY ČR. Thank you for your permission with organization.
Ownership of the map does not allow you to organize individual training sessions nor team training camps! Consult the planned activities with the OOB TJ Turnov and with the forest and PLA administrations.
It is strictly forbidden to use any type of shoes with metal spikes, applies also to ankle boots with spikes!!! Compliance will be checked at start! We do not recommend shoes with a smooth sole for any of the stages.
In the competition area (mainly Stage 1), forest mining work and movement of forestry equipment may occur. Take care and follow the instructions of forest staff if necessary.
Sales and promotional activities in the event center, in the vicinity of the event center, in pre-start or finish areas and along routes to start and finish are possible only with the organizer’s prior approval!
STAGE 1 – Forest sprint Friday 21. 8. 2020
Start:
00 = 12:00 pm
Interval start, HDR category has a free start from 12:00 pm to 4:30 pm
Distance from finish area to EC: 1,900 m. Time limit 90 minutes.
Terrain:
Narrow rocky ridge above the Vranov castle, for some categories also the area of the castle, high rocks, in the part vegetated forest without rocks, large absolute elevation (180 m), steep slopes

Warning:
Roads to the Start 1 and Start 2 are common at the beginning and are divided after crossing the main road I/10.
On the way to the starts, after ca. 1,200 m, just before the footbridge over the Jizera river, there is a spring with drinking water. For Start 1 it is the only refreshment available.
For Start 1, there will be a mobile toilet on the parking lot close to the crossroad to Vranovský hřeben, after 1,400 m. Start 2 will have mobile toilet near the start. Please, do not pollute the surroundings.
On the way to Start 2, do not shorten the asphalt serpentines. In the final part of the way to Start 2, there is a narrow footpath between the gardens. When warming up, do not go back in the opposite direction. To warm up, use forest, or upper path.
Roads to the both starts and road from the finish cross the main road I/10, use the pedestrian crossing and watch your children!
In the start, finish, and competition area (especially on the tourist path, rock views, and in the area of Vranov castle) there is high tourist traffic. Be considerate of tourists.
Pay close attention to the sequence of control numbers and codes, courses have several crossings and there is a big number of controls in a relatively small area, often close to each other (within the rules). Also be considerate of other competitors moving in a small space, especially on narrow footpaths.
There are high cliffs and very dangerous areas in the competition area. Be careful. You compete at your own risk.
Embargoed areas:
Out of competitions: All the forest area of the Vranov ridge (incl. Vranov castle) and the slopes of the Vranský brook valley, except for the marked path to the start and pre-start area! This is the embargoed area until the time limit for the last competitor of the Stage 1 expires!
During competitions: Strict ban on entry to private land and all fences. Forbidden areas are drawn on the map with purple hatches and will be bordered in exposed places by tape and randomly guarded by the organizers. Entry into such areas will lead to disqualification and damage to the forest will be handed over to the management of the Bohemian Paradise PLA.
Mapping standard ISSprOM 2019 is used on the map. It is strictly forbidden to cross all impassable symbols – private land, unsurpassed building, rock slope, wall, vegetation, water.
STAGE 2 – Middle distance Saturday 22. 8. 2020

00 = 10:00 am
Interval start, HDR category has a free start from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm
Distance EC – Start: 2,000 m, 150 m climb!

Start and finish can only be reached on foot (or by bike). Competitors are strictly forbidden to enter the settlement of Záborčí under the threat of disqualification from competitions!
There will be mobile toilets and a urinal near the start and finish, please use these and do not pollute the surroundings, there are several sources of drinking water!
There is high tourist traffic in the start, finish and competition areas. Be considerate of tourists.
Pay close attention to the sequence of control numbers and codes, courses have several crossings and there is a big number of controls in a relatively small area, often close to each other (within the rules). The serial numbers of controls can be behind the control’s connection line, read carefully.
The Drábovna map is newly mapped and significantly generalized compared to the previous version. Passages where it is difficult to walk or sideways are not mapped.
The stone pit symbol (black V) indicates either the intersection of deep narrow passages that cannot be entered (be careful!) or a depression lined with rocks that would not fit on the map in more detail. Controls may be placed in such pits.
There are high cliffs and very dangerous areas in the competition area. Be careful. You compete at your own risk.
Embargoed areas:
Out of competitions: All forest area of the Drábovna map (2016) except the marked path to the start and the pre-start area! The space is embargoed until Sunday, August 23, 2020, 3:00 PM! Do not enter private meadows and land at the start and along the way to start and from finish.
During competitions: Strict ban on entry to private land, private meadows near houses and cottages and to newly planted clearings!
STAGE 3 – Middle distance Sunday 23. 8. 2020

Interval start, HDR category has a free start from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm

Photo-Orienteering – at any time during competitions, a free map to be picked up at the Info Stand in the EC. Photo-O is ideal for an afternoon trip around Malá Skála village. Do not hesitate any longer, there will be limited number of maps. Don’t forget to fill in the solution and give it back to the Info Stand to enter the prize draw which will take place just before the main prize giving ceremony.

Punching system:
Traditional with pinners, all pins must be in a cell. Paper card check and the final decision to be made by the main controller.

O-RUN Best Puncher, Kids (category DH14 and younger)
Start:
At any time from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Number of attempts:
Each competitor has a maximum of 2 attempts to complete the race. In case there will be a big interest while approaching 4:00 pm, preference will be given to competitors who have not yet completed their first attempt.
Expected time:
1 minute for the winner of O-RUN Best Puncher.
Starting fee:
No starting fee for Nice Holidays participants.
